Greetings all.

My first post so excuse my noobness.

I have GW Factions and want to build an AoE Monk as I have been reading about. 55HP Monk. Now 55HP isn't a priority, but I believe skills like "Shield of Judgment" is a must have.

Can I build one of these AoE Monks in Factions or Nightfall or do I need Prophecies?

Also has this build been nerf batted and not worthwhile or available now?

Thanks for any guidance.

So far I've bought GW Factions and now GW Prophecies. I've taken my level 12 Factions Monk to Tyria / Lion's Gate.

I'm supposed to get a Quest from "Mavis", if I remember right. He's a black guy who stands on the a hill in Lion's Gate. Now he isn't offering me any quests. Is that because I'm a Factions character? Or is it current my level 12 is too low?

I guess my big question is Will I be able to use my Factions Monk to learn all the 55HP AoE Monk skills which Prophecies provides?

FYI, 55 monk is for farming alone to make money in the game.

First of all, i would suggest you get througth 1 of the game, getting your char up to lvl 20 and getting some skills.

Money is only needed for buying things like fancy armor and weapons which you shouldn't needed atm with your very first character.

I suggest enjoying the game before starting to farm.

In propheties, a lot of quest are for propheties char only, so those quest are not available for canthan char.

As for Shield of judgment, it's VERY far in the propheties campain and the skill is propheties only.

Let me rephrase that so you don't get a misconception:
You can only capture Shield of Judgement late in the prophecies campaign and it is available only in the prophecies story of the game.

Play through the game first. Worry about farming later. You really don't need money from farming until you want to buy some higher end weapons. You'd do just fine with any old blue staff from the ground.

If you are actually looking into getting into a party as AoE monk then i recommend something like this

Note: if you every get the chance please get nightfall and eye of the north (best pve imo) some of the skills will really help you smite super fast

Allow me to clarify this. Shield of Judgement is in the Prophecies Campaign, but not in the story. You must go out of your way to get this elite (way out of your way).

As you should be aware, there is an item that I don't think you can get in Factions that allows you to be a 55. You can buy it from people though (it is an off-hand).

I agree with others, don't go rushing to become a 55 monk, it isn't very good unless you intend to solo farm.

I've been in a party where we had a 55 monk trying to cap SoJ. He died in 5 seconds and could not be rezed (as no one had a rez signet - only rebirth).

Quests are given after Lion's Arch, so once you go beyond that city, you'll get more quests in Prophecies.
